Coverage & mixing basics
- Size the joint before the sealant: a movement joint is commonly twice as wide as deep, with backer rod setting the depth. The right sealant depends on how much the joint moves.
- Estimate sealant by joint length and joint size — the manufacturer's chart gives feet per cartridge or sausage for each width and depth.
- Polyurethane and hybrid sealants bond to stucco, EIFS finish, concrete and metal; check the data sheet for primer requirements on porous or dusty surfaces.
- Waterproofing coatings are estimated by area at the data-sheet spread rate, usually in two coats. Below-grade work has its own product line — ask.

Which sealant should I use on stucco or EIFS joints?+
A polyurethane or hybrid joint sealant rated for the movement in the joint, applied over backer rod. Tell us the joint size and the finish it meets and we recommend the right one from the lines we carry.
Do you sell Sika products?+
Yes. Sika sealants and coatings are stocked in Suwanee. If a specific Sika product is not on the shelf we can usually order it.
Do you carry backer rod?+
Yes. Backer rod in the common diameters is stocked next to the sealants.
